The Emirates Group employees from diverse cultures and nations came together to support the ‘Well of Hope’ Competition, pumping more than 12,300 litres of water through a mobile virtual interactive pumping device.

The ‘Well of Hope’ humanitarian competition was launched at the start of May by Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This innovative campaign aims to showcase the importance of small contributions and highlight the significant global water shortage. Throughout the month, the ‘Well of Hope’ has been hosted at various UAE entities arriving today at the Emirates Group’s Dubai Headquarters.

“We are honoured to participate in this humanitarian initiative which promotes the values of empathy, solidarity and giving. The goal is not to win the race, but to come together to support this worthy cause. It reminds us all that water is precious and small gestures to serve humanity can make a big difference,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive, Emirates Airline & Group.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRI) will donate the total amount of water pumped to people living in remote areas with no access to clean water. Official figures states that more than 844 million people around the world do not have access to clean water, which represents 1 out of 10 people on the planet.
