Madar Farms starts selling locally-grown vegetables online

UAE-based indoor vertical farming company, Madar Farms’ locally grown produce can now be purchased online for the first time. This comes as part of Madar Farms’ commitment to support the UAE communities amidst the current situation, including local suppliers.

Madar Farms has partnered with FreshOnTable, Narinport and Barakat to deliver its microgreens directly to consumers across the UAE.

Seven varieties of produces that can be ordered include pea shoots, arugula, bull’s blood, tendril peas, daikon radish. Customers can also try Amaranth, which is similar to spinach but mild in flavour, and Shiso Britton – a mild, mint-basil aroma microgreen. Madar Farms plans to launch more of its products online in the coming weeks.

“In these challenging times, it is more important than ever to eat and shop local – and across the UAE we are seeing an increasing move towards this. By working with FreshOnTable, Narinport and Barakat, we will be able to make our produce available directly to consumers for the first time and reach out to even more people across the UAE,” said Abdulaziz AlMulla, CEO and founder, Madar Farms. “We are responding to this current demand that we’re facing today, partnering with our online ordering and delivery partners to service people across the Emirates. When our customers receive their produce, it will be clean, safe and fresh as all our products are delivered within 24 hours of harvesting.”

Earlier this year, Madar Farms had announced an approximately 75,350-sqft facility, with 53,820 sqft of growing area set to open at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) by the end of 2020. It is, reportedly, the world’s first commercial-scale indoor farm that will use only LED lighting to grow tomatoes. The facility will also grow microgreens. In the new facility, Madar Farms will, reportedly, triple the quantity of microgreens it currently produces.
