A third generation Ganwani enters retail domain

The launch of a new UAE active wear brand Burn brings forth a third generation retailer in Tanya Ganwani.

Ganwani, the founder and CEO of Burn, is the daughter of Jayant Ganwani and granddaughter of Lal Ganwani, founder of Dubai-based Lals Group that operates brands such as Homes R Us, Lamcy Plaza, Arabian Center, Carters and Daiso, to name a few.

Ganwani, who is also the designer of the brand, says the collection is targeted at active women who frequent the gym and was led by her own personal experience.

“As a fashion-conscious person I realised that there was a gap in the market. Most of the women’s active wear fashion available is strappy and not suited to the region we live in. Burn strikes a balance between comfort, an element of style and being practical. We also experiment with design and will offer wearable fashion exclusively for women of different shapes and sizes at affordable prices,” she says.

Although Ganwani strongly believes that retail has been in her blood since birth, she has decided to move away from brick-and-mortar retail, which she feels is ‘old-fashioned’. Nevertheless, she is open to setting up physical stores once the business picks up.

The Burn e-commerce portal (www.burncollection.com) is expected to be ready after the summer. For the time-being people can place their orders via e-mail ([email protected]) and get the merchandise delivered by courier across the Gulf.
