Japanese bookstore chain, Kinokuniya Bookstore will open its first location in Abu Dhabi at The Galleria Al Maryah Island next year.

Since Kinokuniya Bookstore first opened in Tokyo in 1927, it has become a beloved brand across the world with flagship stores from as far afield as New York and San Francisco to Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. The brand was established in the UAE at The Dubai Mall towards the end of 2008, and in spring 2020 Kinokuniya will open in Abu Dhabi.

Kinokuniya’s unmatched selection of books, magazines, comics, educational materials, art supplies, crafts and gifts will cater to every member of the community.

“We are very excited to celebrate our unique Japanese heritage within The Galleria Al Maryah Island’s vibrant mix, and we look forward to welcoming the Abu Dhabi community to our store. Young children will love Kinokuniya’s learning and development series, teens will be captivated with popular young-adult titles and thousands of classic and contemporary fiction and non-fiction titles will suit all preferences,” says Naoya Hirata, managing director of Kinokuniya UAE.

“We are delighted to introduce Kinokuniya at The Galleria Al Maryah Island. The Galleria is a place for the community to come together and create new experiences. The addition of Kinokuniya further ensures the mall will be a destination where families and children can learn, grow and be entertained,” adds Daniel Parry, managing director of Gulf Related.
