Anand Padmanabhan and Farid Vakil from Zebra Technologies at MRF 2024
At MRF 2024, Zebra Technologies showcased their AI-powered ‘store of the future’, which was described as a “utopian dream supported by countless real-life examples.”
Zebra Technologies brought to life practical use cases of what it envisions to be the ‘store of the future’ powered by artificial intelligence (AI), especially focused on the capabilities of AI-based machine vision. For instance, AI-based machine vision can identify not only packaged produce but also differentiate various items when presented on the weighing scale.
This technology can assist in avoiding ticket switching which causes shrinkage or misaligned inventory reconciliation with POS (point of sale).
It makes digimarc a reality whereby a wrong bar code can be auto corrected with one look at the packaging of the product. It also enables RFID-based customer checkouts, self-service checkouts and mobile POS in action.
