BinDawood Holding has a rich Saudi heritage, spanning over 50 years, 38 years of which have been in grocery retail. The company has grown from a small trading business to one of the leading retailers in Saudi Arabia. Its success story has been driven by constant innovation and commitment to building long-term relationships with suppliers, partners and customers.

In 1984 the company, then operating as ‘BinDawood Superstores Company’, opened its first branch in Makkah under the ‘BinDawood’ brand. The company stands tall on its years of heritage by bringing to the front more than 140K SKUs across all its locations. Apart from that what sets the company apart from the rest is the comprehensive range of imported brands including handpicked imported goods procured from dedicated offices in Europe and China.

Currently, under the leadership of Chairman, Dr. Abdulrazzag BinDawood and Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad AR. BinDawood the company boasts a network of stores in more than 12 cities across KSA. With its portfolio including BinDawood Supermarkets, Danube Supermarkets, Ykone and International Applications Company it is a leading name in the Western region of the Kingdom, predominantly in two Holy Cities of KSA.

Over the decades, the company has achieved many milestones, some of which are as follows:

  • In 2016, Investcorp acquired a minority stake in BinDawood Holding. In 2017 and 2019, the company launched an app and e-commerce platform.
  • In 2022, BinDawood Holding acquired Ykone, an international influencer agency having presence in major cities across the globe and IAC, which owned BinDawood and Danube online platforms. The company is looking forward to potential acquisitions in the MENA region, for which talks are currently in advanced stages.
  • Danube embarked on its international journey by launching a store in Manama, Bahrain in 2022.
  • Looking ahead towards 2024, the company is getting ready to launch the first-ever mega dark store in KSA and aims to open six-seven new stores.
