British online fashion retailer, boohoo has launched its first recycled fashion range called ‘For the Future’. Made using recycled polyester, the fabric is created from plastic that has been directed away from landfill and repurposed to produce new yarn. The aim of the collection is to raise awareness while not compromising on style.

The products in this launch collection are made using 95% recycled polyester and 5% elastin. The collection is made using environmentally friendly and non-toxic fabric dyes and ink, free of harmful chemicals. The collection has been produced in the UK, reducing carbon footprint. The origin of the product will be detailed on the garment label for the consumer to see. The swing tags are made from 100% recycled paper. The manufacturing process is chlorine free and the materials are acid free. The string is made of 100% jute that is biodegradable and recyclable

Featuring 34 fashion pieces, the summer range includes the season’s latest palm prints and a mix of both a bright bold colour palette and the classic monochrome wardrobe essentials. The pieces include the co-ordinated sets, going out dresses, bodysuits, flares and crop tops.

“We are consistently listening to our customers and have been working on developing a recycled offering for some time. boohoo acknowledges its responsibility to be a sustainable business and ‘For the Future’ fashion range is the next step in that journey,” said Carol Kane, founder, boohoo Group.

This is not just a one-off initiative, as boohoo plans to continually add new collections offering customers a wider range of sustainable fashion options.
