Businesses are resuming operations in central China’s Hubei province after the COVID-19 lockdown, noted Chinese e-commerce company JD.com. Although resumption of business in Hubei is lagging behind other places by around one month, recovery is happening swiftly.
From March 25-31, demand for goods from Hubei enterprises on JD.com’s platform increased 44.9% compared with the week earlier. During the same week, demand for food and beverages accounted for over 50%, while cleaning and paper products accounted for 13%. Medical care, kitchenware and personal care categories increased fastest on a week-on-week basis.
According to JD.com, it is noteworthy how the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have sprung back into action rather swiftly.
