Carrefour UAE unveils Ramadan offers

Majid Al Futtaim, which holds the exclusive franchise rights to operate Carrefour in 38 countries, unveiled Ramadan offers and initiatives at Carrefour UAE. The announcement was made during a visit to Carrefour Hypermarket at City Centre Sharjah by Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the Customer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy.

Ramadan is historically the peak grocery shopping period of the year. And this year Carrefour UAE has many things on offer during the Holy Month. From today until the end of Ramadan, customers can take advantage of two ‘Ramadan Baskets’, priced at AED100 and AED200, respectively. The first (AED100) will have bulk essentials like rice, flour, cooking oil and pasta, while the second (AED200) will have dried pulses, fruit juice and more. In addition to Ramadan Baskets, Carrefour UAE is offering ‘ready-to-go’ iftar boxes across all its stores.

For the first time ever this year, Carrefour UAE has put together a limited edition ‘Organic Ramadan’ basket for online customers, comprising a hand-picked selection of organic products offered at a substantial discount on the full price.

During the Holy Month itself, customers can also opt to purchase a Ramadan Donation Basket which will be distributed by the UAE Red Crescent to families and individuals in the UAE who are surviving on low incomes. In line with its commitment to the community, Carrefour is also supporting the Community Development Authority with its ‘Suhorham on us’ campaign, which will provide suhour for thousands of people of determination in the UAE. The company has donated biodegradable bags, napkins, outdoor portable air conditioning units and tables to ensure the comfort of attendees.

“Ramadan is about sharing time, food, compassion and love for humanity. It is also the peak grocery shopping period of the year, with many families buying food in much larger volumes than usual, including for charitable purposes. This has driven us to deliver even greater value and convenience to them during the Holy Month,” says Miguel Povedano, COO and head of operational excellence of Carrefour UAE at Majid Al Futtaim Retail.

“Our sales figures also tell us that many of our customers are becoming more health-conscious. Our Ramadan Baskets have consistently been one of the most popular annual promotions because of their substantial cost savings, but we hope that the introduction of our innovative Organic Ramadan Basket in 2018 will encourage both fasting Muslims and our non-fasting customers to lead healthier lifestyles during the Holy Month and beyond,” he adds.

Carrefour estimates the total saving for UAE customers from its various promotions during Ramadan 2018 could top AED50 million.
