Chinese New Year celebrations begin at Mall of the Emirates

Mall of the Emirates is celebrating Chinese New Year with traditional entertainment, promotions and competitions until February 13. The shopping, dining and entertainment destination is ready to enthral Chinese tourists arriving in the UAE with amazing offers and a carefully curated selection of cultural activities and roaming entertainment.

“There is a steady influx of Chinese holidaymakers who seek the best possible shopping and leisure experiences in Dubai and the UAE’s recent relaxation of entry visa rules for Chinese citizens is a contributing factor,” says Hussain Moosa, director for Mall of the Emirates at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties.

“Mall of the Emirates has much to offer Chinese tourists, from the convenience of staying at international hotel chains to easy access to all their desirable brands and family leisure and entertainment options, including Ski Dubai and VOX Cinemas, creating great moments every time they visit. Chinese New Year also gives us an opportunity to make our Chinese guests visiting the country feel at home with traditional festivities and showcase the history and heritage of this culturally rich country to the rest of our visitors,” he adds.

Mall of the Emirates will transform for the occasion with a visually striking production ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, which will take visitors on a journey through one girl’s dreams and fantasises while showcasing the stunning traditional Chinese performing arts with lion and dragon dance and acrobatic feats.

The mall’s Luxury Wing will turn into a cultural hub with activities highlighting Chinese crafts. Visitors can try their hand at different workshops – including calligraphy, Chinese fan craft, rice painting and playing Mahjong, a popular game of skill, strategy and calculation in China.

During the Chinese New Year, shoppers at Mall of the Emirates will be rewarded with amazing promotions and a daily prize of AED15,000. Visitors who spend AED1,000 or more in the mall’s shops, dining outlets or entertainment facilities will be eligible to enter the prize draw.
