City Centre Sharjah, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim, is set to elevate the shopping and entertainment experience for tourists and residents in the emirate as it enters the final phase of redevelopment this month.
The AED260 million revamp of the mall is 75% of the way towards completion, and visitors can look forward to an array of exciting retail and leisure additions – including a massive, 12-screen, high-tech VOX Cinemas multiplex that will boast a vivid digital image projection system, Dolby Atmos and 7.1 multidimensional surround sound. Moviegoers can choose from the MAX experience with its super-sized screen and increased seating capacity, GOLD by Rhodes – the new luxury in-cinema, gourmet dining concept – or KIDS which is designed especially for little guests.
The city’s holistic shopping and entertainment destination will expand to include 30 new lifestyle stores, many more F&B options and leisure activities for a great time out with the family every day. In addition, City Centre Sharjah will also be expanding the parking lot by adding 700 spaces.
“Majid Al Futtaim wants to offer residents and tourists much more than shopping. As the expectations of our discerning customers evolve, so do our offerings to meet those demands. The new lifestyle stores and dining options will offer a much wider variety to meet different tastes of visitors, right from the youth to families looking for a great time out,” says Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, managing director for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, shopping malls (UAE, Bahrain & Oman).
“The new City Centre Sharjah will merge world-class retail with the best entertainment options, as well. We are particularly excited to be bringing VOX Cinemas, the Middle East’s most innovative cinema to the mall, which will offer unparalleled entertainment experiences, with tailored viewing options for a memorable movie going experience for everyone, from kids to adults. City Centre Sharjah is going to become the new exciting community hub in the emirate, creating great moments for everyone, every day,” he adds.
New food and beverage outlets include McDonald’s for a grab-and-go meal or Nando’s, Chili’s and the home-grown Indian restaurant chain Gazebo for a casual sit-down dinner.
Among the 25 fashion and lifestyle brands extending their lines to the mall are Annabelle, lingerie boutique Nayomi and Pakistani ladies wear label Khaadi. Other names include Italian luggage and handbag brand Carpisa, perfume house Flormar and budget furniture store Home Box.
For added convenience, Etisalat, UAE Exchange and Commercial Bank of Dubai will also be available. Healthcare services are an important part of any community hub, particularly one as centrally located as City Centre Sharjah. Making its debut in the emirate will be City Centre Clinic, Majid Al Futtaim’s multidisciplinary health centre.
New eyewear stores Rivoli EyeZone and Yateem Optician will both offer optometry (vision health) alongside the latest designer frames and sunglasses. A branch of leading chain Life Pharmacy will also open at the mall.
The redevelopment is part of Majid Al Futtaim’s planned AED30 billion investment in the UAE by 2026. As well as investing in existing assets, the company plans to open 10 malls, 28 cinemas and 40 Carrefour hypermarkets by late 2020. A residential initiative, gated community Al Zahia, will span more than 10.7 million sqft and is being developed jointly with the Sharjah government.
“Our repositioning of City Centre Sharjah reflects our commitment and investment in the Northern Emirates planned over the next few years, as we aim to contribute to bolstering the economy and tourism of the UAE with our world-class retail and leisure offerings,” states Sharaf.
