The UAE’s first ‘nature-inspired’ shopping destination Cityland Mall remains on track for opening in Q4 2018 with construction on the project progressing at a rapid pace. As of date, the developers say that 60% of the project is completed with over 50% of the retail space leased and committed.
With construction work on the space allotted for Carrefour, the biggest hypermarket in the Dubailand, nearly complete, it will be ready for handover on or before the end of March 2018. Construction work for the two major entertainment anchors – VOX Cinemas and Fabyland – too are progressing at a fast pace and ready for fit-out within the next 6-8 weeks. By the end of Q2, 2018 the site will be open for most of the mall tenants to move in fit-outs.
With the completion of over 80% of the structural work of the entire project, the remaining works are scheduled for completion in the next 8-10 weeks. The Miracle Garden Landscaping, the company behind the landscaped projects such as Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Butterfly Garden, has bagged the landscaping contract for Central Park, which is an integral part of the mall. The 200,000-sqft Central Park will provide a unique sensory experience for shoppers and is designed to accommodate 7,000 shoppers at a time within its vast expanse.
“With excellent progress on both the construction and leasing side, we look forward to launching Cityland Mall to the public during the fourth quarter of this year and add a unique dimension to retail into the UAE market. We have received strong interest from retailers, and we are working to conclude the leasing activities by adding 30% of leased retail space by year-end. We anticipate the balance of the retail area to be fully committed by the end of Q1 2019,” says Fahimuddin Sharfuddin, CEO & board member, Cityland Group.
Cityland Mall will host a strong selection of retailers across various categories. Anchored by a 100,000-sqft Carrefour, the hypermarket district will be over 75 shops and services, making it easy for customers to manage their day-to-day grocery and necessity shopping.
The mall’s food and beverage offerings will feature a wide variety of restaurants, cafés and quick service food concepts. The food court will host over 20 outlets, with a complete range of dining preferences. In Central Park, there will be 22 full-service casual-dining concepts with outdoor terraces facing onto Central Park. Several of these restaurants will also have rooftop terraces with the panoramic views of the Park.
The lifestyle fashion area will feature over 100 retailers offering fashion and apparel, shoes and accessories. Riva Fashion, Matalan, Ipekyol, Native are among the fashion brands already committed with many others in the pipeline.
The 45,000 sqft VOX Cinemas with ten screens, using the latest projection and audio technology, and the Fabyland family entertainment centre, spanning 40,000 sqft, complete the leisure and entertainment offering.
