pdl, pronounced as pedal – a first-of-its-kind concept space that combines a barbershop, cycling and café – is all set to open in the new year on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Set to open in January 2018, pdl will add to the community spirit around Al Safa and the Dubai Canal area by fusing the camaraderie of men’s grooming, general sense of belonging amongst cyclists and friendly vibes at cafés into one modern space.
Founded by three Emiratis who combined their love for cycling, coffee, crews, cruise and cuts, pdl was an idea inspired by the community culture the trio witnessed at similar sport-themed cafés around the world. They wanted to bring this fostering of unity in society to Dubai, however, with an edge.
This came in the form of a convenient barbershop, complete with a service menu to match the theme. Services will include ‘handlebar’ manicures, so men can cycle in spirit even when grooming alongside haircut. In keeping with the theme, there will be a recovery booth for cyclists to refresh and relax after a ride.
With earthy and metallic tones and an industrial-chic vibe, pdl will exude an inclusive and infectiously friendly spirit. Not to be confused with a ‘man cave’, ladies will also find the ambience nice to catch up over coffee.
