Marking its participation in the Dubai Fitness Challenge for the second time, 100 staff of the airport retailer Dubai Duty Free (DDF) turned up for the 7-km beach run at Kite Beach in Jumeirah on October 27.
The Dubai Fitness Challenge is an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, to encourage people to do 30 minutes of exercise a day, for 30 days.
The DDF run was held on Burj Al Arab jogging path, with Salah Tahlak, executive vice president for Corporate Services heading up the running team. He was joined by Kumar Ananthan, vice president – Finance and Zayed Al Shebli, vice president – Loss Prevention and Corporate Security.
Commenting on the success of its first corporate activity, Tahlak says, “It was a fantastic event in a great location and I am delighted to see a lot of DDF participants joined me in this great initiative by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.”
The 7.5 km run is one of the five corporate fitness activities from DDF for the Dubai Fitness Challenge which includes a cycling event at DxBike Track on November 3 to be headed by Michael Schmidt, senior vice president – Retail Support. The finals of the annual Dubai Duty Free Bowling Tournament will be held on November 5 at Dubai International Bowling Centre in Al Mamzar. Also planned is a Zumba class to be conducted by a licensed Zumba fitness trainer on November 10 at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium and Dragon Boating on November 16 at Dubai Creek Yacht Club.
Meanwhile, for office staff working at DDF head office there will be a weekly 10-minute stretching class to be held every Thursday morning at the staff parking area before the start of the working day.
As part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge initiative, DDF is bringing its community together to encourage a healthier and more active lifestyle for its ever-growing workforce.
