The Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC), member of the Dubai Creative Clusters Authority, has collaborated with luxury retailer Chalhoub Group to develop local and regional creative talent.

With six decades of experience the Chalhoub Group today operates a network of over 650 retail stores across 14 countries retailing and distributing more than 280 brands within the beauty, fashion and gifts categories through partnerships, franchises and its own retail concepts. It will offer expertise to designers on various areas helping them to become competitive regionally and globally.

“We believe in the growing talents of the region and we are proud to be part of this initiative, where we can share our intimate knowledge of the retail industry and support these young entrepreneurs to build and develop their businesses,” says co-CEO Patrick Chalhoub.

On its part, DDFC offers a range of initiatives under its talent development programme including the Urban Majlis discussion forum, seminars and workshops, alongside mentorship for local and regional designers.

The Chalhoub Group will support these initiatives by hosting workshops for young entrepreneurs to help them understand and tackle common business challenges, while promoting knowledge sharing among industry experts and designers.

“Supporting and incubating creative talent are some of the most fundamental elements of DDFC’s mandate. Working with key stakeholders and industry leaders like the Chalhoub Group is essential as this helps us create new avenues for nurturing and showcasing talent, accelerating the growth of the design industry in Dubai,” adds DDFC CEO Nez Gebreel.
