Dubai-based Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE) has signed an agreement with Kuwait-based retailer MH Alshaya to bring several of the latter’s franchised international retail brands to the Doha Festival City, which is currently under construction.

Doha Festival City, which is expected to open in 2016, is a 2.7 million sqft GLA, mixed-use retail and entertainment complex owned and developed by Bawabat Al-Shamal Real Estate Company, a joint venture among AFGRE, Qatar Islamic Bank and private Qatari investors

Occupying around 269,000 sqft of GLA in Doha Festival City will be 50 retail brands from the Alshaya portfolio. Some of the brands expected to be present in the mall are H&M, Debenhams, Mothercare, Bath & Body Works, Starbucks and Shake Shack, among others.

“By bringing some of our top retail brands to Doha Festival City, we are further strengthening our association with Al-Futtaim Group. Having a strong clutch of fashion conscious consumers, Doha Festival City will be an exciting addition to Doha’s retail mix,” says Mohammed Alshaya, executive chairman of MH Alshaya.
