Dubai-based Dragon Mart, the largest trading hub for Chinese products outside mainland China, is staging a three-day Chinese entertainment extravaganza this weekend to celebrate the Chinese new year – the Year of the Horse. The celebrations – starting Thursday, 30 January – include over than 20 live performances that reflect traditional Chinese arts and culture.
Among the attractions is a giant dragon, which will weave its way through the 1.2 km long mall at various times during the three-day event, with dancing lions also on display. The mall will also host dancers, singers, magicians, kung fu and tai chi lessons and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Dragon Mart’s Chinese New Year stage shows take place on the ground floor by the main entrance, from 2pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
“More than 200,000 customers shop at Dragon Mart every weekend, and we expect to see even more visitors over the next few days as we and our 3,200 retailers welcome in the Year of the Horse,” says Peter Samuel, managing director, Nakheel Retail.
