UAE’s telecom operator du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), took part in the leadership’s innovative ‘Well of Hope’ humanitarian competition during the holy month of Ramadan. As part of the initiative, du filled 793 bottles, the equivalent of 11,485 litres of water.
Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Well of Hope initiative calls on all government and private sector employees to pump the largest amount of water through a mobile virtual interactive pumping device.
Commenting on the initiative Abdulwahed Juma, EVP brand & corporate communications, du, said, “On behalf of du, it is an honour to take part in an initiative bestowed to us from the UAE leadership, especially one that is aligned with the virtues of Ramadan to share compassion and give charity to those in need. We are a company that places large emphasis on technology for good, and the introduction of the Well of Hope is a vibrant example of how technology and virtual solutions can empower communities and deliver betterment to all who call the UAE home.”
By hosting the virtual water pumping device, which moves around various public and private entities each day, du enabled its employees the opportunity to play a role in enriching the lives of those less fortunate.
Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives will donate the total amount of water pumped into the machine throughout the holy month to remote, less fortunate societies.
