The Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), a training and vocational education institution established by Dubai’s Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), celebrated the achievements and accomplishments of the graduating class of 2019. The special graduation ceremony was held at the Intercontinental Festival City.

Certificates in Tourism, Hospitality, Events, Retail and Culinary Arts were awarded by the director general of Dubai Tourism, Helal Saeed Almarri to students for the successful completion of their first year. The graduation ceremony was also attended by Ahmad Julfar, director general of Dubai’s Community Development Authority (CDA), which supported DCT’s vocational training programme by sponsoring some of the students with scholarships.

In addition, the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) had also endorsed a number of scholarships for students at DCT, inviting them to participate in internships during the first year of their chosen programme. At the graduation ceremony, DGJG chairman, Tawhid Abdulla highlighted the importance of relevant industry experience for the careers of students.

“We extend our congratulations to all DCT’s graduates on this momentous occasion as they take the next steps towards rewarding careers in Dubai’s thriving tourism and hospitality industries. Their success is a reflection of DCT’s commitment to empower all our students with experiential learning – be it through year-round collaborative initiatives with our valued network of industry partners, immersive site visits, guest lectures or even DCT’s active internship programme that has been specifically designed to ensure students excel once they enter the industry. I am confident that these graduating students will go on to become great ambassadors for the College, and more importantly, contribute effectively towards building our dynamic society with their hard work and determination as the next generation of leaders in the tourism industry,” said Essa Bin Hadher, general manager of DCT.

DCT – accredited by the Knowledge & Human Development Authority (KHDA) – continues to offer innovative educational experiences to empower students of all levels to succeed in the city’s thriving tourism sector. Courses are designed and conducted by industry expert instructors using interactive and immersive hands-on teaching techniques. With the successful completion of their first years, graduating students will now be able to progress to the Diploma programme, which takes a further six months of study and then onto the Applied Bachelor’s degree programme, with an additional year of study. Students have the opportunity to attain an Applied Bachelor’s degree at the College over the period of just two and a half years, for a much lower cost than traditional universities.
