Dubai Economy has launched a ‘Price Monitor’ to track daily prices of staple foods and essentials. This initiative will ensure that consumers get their basic needs at fair prices despite precautionary measures being adopted due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to strengthen communication with consumers and enable them to raise complaints and queries on price increases faster and easier, Dubai Economy has launched a dedicated portal called Price.ded.ae.
The daily Price Monitor, available in Arabic and English, will allow shoppers and businesses to track and compare the prices of 41 basic needs. These items include rice, bread, flour, cooking oil, meat, poultry, fish, milk, eggs, water, salt, sugar fruits and vegetables and hygiene essentials such as sanitisers and face masks. The Price Monitor is available on the Instagram and Twitter handles of Dubai Economy.
The Price Monitor will also help the Dubai Economy to evaluate demand and supply in the local market based on the price list and address any likely concerns among shoppers and traders.
While the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in Dubai Economy will co-ordinate with retail chains and supermarkets in the UAE to publish the daily list with minimum and maximum prices.
