Dubai Festival City Mall unveils new expansion

Dubai-based Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate’s flagship project Dubai Festival City has opened part of its new expansion at the Festival Square.

The new expansion includes a completely re-designed main atrium, Festival Square and new stores representing some of the world’s most prominent fashion brands and 22 new F&B brands overlooking the creek that will enhance the shopping experience of the mall’s customers.

In June this year, five new stores including Jashanmal, Iconic, Kipling, Cinnabon and Annabelle joined the 25 brands that were opened at the mall a month earlier. According to the plan, upon the completion of its expansion programme by 2016, the mall will have a total of 420 stores.

“Many regional and international retailers have committed a growing number of stores to Dubai Festival City Mall as they are aspiring to expand their retail network alongside our unique waterfront location on the banks of Dubai’s historic Creek,” says Brad Merchant, general manager of the mall.

Amongst the new brands that are part of the expansion between now and 2016 include Massimo Dutti, Dani by Dani K, Kate Spade, Paul, Eataly, The Cheescake Factory, Serendipity 3, Magnolia Bakery,  Sandro, Maje, DVF, Mint Velvet and Zadig & Voltaire.

“We have already opened world’s largest Aldo store in the mall, in addition, we will be housing a new anchor department store brand and family entertainment centre,” adds Merchant.

The F&B outlets and the all-weather waterfront will be a unique differentiator to the mall. Once opened to the public early next year, the 300-metre-long waterfront promenade will feature more than 20 waterfront restaurants overlooking the creek and 50,000 sqft plaza submerged in water. More dining options will be available at the indoor food court, which has undergone a radical makeover.

Saudi-based Al Othaim Group’s ‘FabyLand’, a 70,000 sqft family entertainment centre will feature a wide array of thrilling rides, many other attractions for teenagers and adults alike, including My Town, a new concept that combines entertainment with physical activities for children and toddlers.
