Eid in Dubai creates memorable moments

The 10th edition of ‘Eid in Dubai – Eid Al Fitr’ – organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) – created memorable moments for residents and visitors with an exciting line-up of events and activities

‘Eid in Dubai- Eid Al Fitr’ brought together people from different communities and cultures from within and outside the emirate under the theme, ‘United in Celebration’, and is providing a rare opportunity for visitors to explore and discover Arabic customs, cuisine and culture through family-oriented social, cultural and entertainment events.

Shopping during  ‘Eid in Dubai’ was a rewarding experience as demonstrated by the ‘Shop, Spin & Win’ promotion run by Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) with the support of DFRE. The DSMG’s ‘Eid in Dubai’ campaign, which was launched on June 16 ran until the last day of Eid Al Fitr and offered shoppers the chance to win instant prizes worth AED250,000.

Shoppers thronged malls during the ‘Eid in Dubai – Eid Al Fitr’ celebrations to either watch or participate in a range of events and activities including a concert by Arab star Majid Al Muhandis at Dragon Mart 2, family oriented attractions including renowned cartoon character shows and performances by roaming artistes in different shopping malls, in addition to visiting Modhesh World. Local artist Mohammed Al Shehhi will bring down the curtains on the ‘Eid in Dubai’ celebrations with his concert at Dubai Opera on June 30.

‘Eid in Dubai’ is a social initiative that was launched by DFRE in 2008, as part of its efforts to position Dubai as a year-round family tourism destination and to ensure that Dubai remains a busy hub for retailers throughout the year.

Over the years, the summer season has grown to become one of the most awaited shopping seasons in Dubai, and this will now reach its peak with the 20th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises, which starts on July 1 and will run until August 12, featuring six weeks of sales.
