Emirates NBD launches online marketplace SkyShopper

The newest online marketplace, launched today, in the UAE is Emirates NBD’s SkyShopper. It is an exclusive online marketplace that the bank has launched for its customers.

The e-commerce platform, a first-of-its-kind offering from a bank in the region, will enable Emirates NBD credit and debit card customers to shop and pay for purchases ranging from flights, hotels, electronics and fashion items to entertainment, groceries as well as international shopping, all from the same portal and using one consolidated check-out.

Emirates NBD has partnered with prominent retailers and e-tailers to offer its customers a wide variety of products and services along with a seamless and safe shopping experience. SkyShopper’s current partners include travel booking sites Cleartrip and Musafir; fashion and lifestyle e-tailer Namshi.com; and electronics brands such as Axiom, Jumbo and Sharaf DG. Customers will be able to book tickets to their favourite shows on Platinumlist, while also ordering their daily groceries through Trolley.ae, all at one go without having to visit separate sites and making multiple payment transactions.

In addition, customers will also be able to shop at international online stores with delivery to the UAE consolidated and routed through a US shipping address (MyUS.com) and at My Smart Price (MSP) India with delivery anywhere in India. New partnerships in the pipeline include Booking.com, The Luxury Closet, 6thSTREET.COM and Headout.

“The launch of SkyShopper is to enrich the shopping experience and provide added value to Emirates NBD customers who are increasingly making online purchases,” says Suvo Sarkar, senior executive vice president, & group head – retail banking and wealth management, Emirates NBD. “Despite its rapid growth, the UAE’s e-commerce sector continues to be based largely on cash-on-delivery. SkyShopper is uniquely positioned to change that by providing customers the security and convenience of purchasing everything from airline tickets to mobile phones and luxury items to groceries via Emirates NBD’s trusted payment platform.”

Customers will be able to browse and select their products of choice on SkyShopper. On completing their selection across different partner stores, they will be able to consolidate all items under one shopping cart before proceeding to pay using their Emirates NBD credit or debit card. Service queries can be carried out by calling the respective seller’s call centre directly or via Emirates NBD.

SkyShopper taps into the UAE’s booming e-commerce market valued at over AED20 billion annually and forecast to double by 2020. By virtue of being one of the largest cards issuers in the market, Emirates NBD will leverage unique customer insights in conjunction with partners to provide superior value and an exceptional user experience for customers. The new initiative follows the bank’s announcement on a planned AED500 million investment towards digital innovation and transformation over a three-year period.
