“I’m very proud to have been to be actively involved in the ecosystem, serving as a year-round mentor for entrepreneurs and serving on boards where I can drive ecosystem disruption, especially enabling young and female entrepreneurs” – Mona Ataya, Founder – Mumzworld.com & Pharmaciaty.com, Co-Founder – Bayt.com

Mona Ataya has proven to be one of the Middle East’s most prominent and successful female entrepreneurs. As a serial entrepreneur, she has a strong track record of not only building successful businesses but also shaping the landscape and disrupting the ecosystem. Ataya holds the distinction of successfully driving companies from being a business plan on paper to becoming disruptive platforms, which makes her a truly transformational leader and a change agent in every sense of the word.

Mumzworld at a Glance

  • Reaching over 2.5 million mothers across the region since inception in 2011.
  • With more than six rounds of funding, renowned investors on board and a solid business plan, Mumzworld became #1 Funded Women-Led E-commerce Company in the Middle East and the first regional, homegrown e-commerce company acquired by a Saudi Arabia-based strategic giant.

Being very passionate about supporting young entrepreneurs, Ataya plays an important role as an “outlier” in the Endeavor Group and was the first woman selected into this network in the Middle East in 2014. Furthermore, she is a key part of the regional ecosystem, serving as a board member of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy (DCDE) and a delegate for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as an e-trade for woman advocate for the region with a mandate to empower women and create enabling opportunities for women in the digital ecosystem. Given her vast experience and expertise, most recently, she was also selected to be part of the Dubai Future Foundation’s Fellowship Program, a collaborative opportunity to shape the future of Dubai alongside other innovators and leaders.

Asked about her next big idea, here’s what Ataya said, “As someone who’s interested in tech disruption, I’m always on the lookout for new ideas that can add value to the ecosystem. What I can say is exciting new projects are on the horizon!”
