In a virtual webinar held to announce the launch of Noon Food, the company’s founder Mohamed Alabbar urged all food aggregators to drop their charges today.
“You’ve been making money for all these years, now it’s not fair”, he said calling all aggregators in the UAE to bring the charges down to 15%.
Noon Food is a food delivery marketplace housed within the Noon app. It aims to grow the F&B delivery sector via accessible technology and fair pricing. It will charge 10% of order value for marketplace commission, 5% for delivery commission and 2% as payment handling fee.
“It is a restaurant first app developed to support local F&B operators. It is here to redefine the laying field with no hidden charges and a fair program packed with benefits”, the webinar invite read.
Alabbar has always been critical of the food delivery players in the region that charge up to 35% in commission on orders. The problem was aggravated in 2020, especially during the lockdown months when restaurants were left with no choice but to use the aggregators’ services for extortionary rates.
With the aim to offer a fair marketplace for restaurants, Noon encourages F&B operators to see Noon Food as their platform where suggestions on back-end operations, pricing and other factors are welcome.
“Noon food is your company, your platform. We come together, meet and you give us advice”, said Alabbar.
