Abu Dhabi-based Yas Mall is inviting visitors to make a child’s wish come true by contributing just AED1 when shopping at the Géant Hypermarket.

As part of this initiative – which started on April 30 and will continue until December 31 – shoppers at Géant, Yas Mall will be able to make an AED1 contribution, the proceeds will be donated directly to Make-A-Wish UAE, a charity that seeks to grant the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions.

In support of Make-A-Wish UAE, Géant at Yas Mall and Aldar Properties have announced a memorandum of understanding signed by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, chairman of Make-A-Wish UAE, and Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO of Aldar Properties.

The initiative was formalised at a press conference given by Saoud Khoory, general manager of Yas Mall; Hani Alzubaidi, CEO of Make-A-Wish UAE; and Mark Lack, COO of Géant. Also in attendance were Sheika Noor bint Fahim Al Qassimi, trustee board member of Make-A-Wish UAE.

This special initiative between Géant Hypermarket, Yas Mall and Make-A-Wish UAE supports Yas Mall’s commitment to the UAE’s ‘Year of Giving’, and reflects how the mall is encouraging retailers and customers in raising awareness towards supporting humanitarian initiatives within the UAE.

“Yas Mall is committed to help support the ‘Year of Giving’ through individual corporative initiatives, along with collaborative efforts of our retail partners and valued shoppers, in an effort to join forces and make a positive impact within our community. We would like to thank Geant for taking part in supporting Make-A-Wish UAE. We encourage everyone to donate to this worthwhile cause, which gives children the strength, hope and love to endure through great adversity,” says Khoory.

“We are delighted to partner with Géant Hypermarket and Yas Mall to launch this campaign, which will support us to reach out to more children with life-threatening medical conditions in the UAE. This campaign will also raise awareness of the foundation’s vision and goals with Géant being a lead hypermarket in the region, we are also proud to see our partnerships expand with support from government and private entities,” adds Alzubaidi.

“Since the UAE has announced 2017 as the Year of Giving, we are really excited to partner with Make-A-Wish Foundation. Géant is eager to support this initiative, wherein our customers can donate AED1 each time they shop to an amazing cause. We are delighted that all proceeds will go towards granting the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses to bring smiles to their faces,” concludes Lack.
