GMG to boost workforce in 2015

Dubai-based Gulf Marketing Group (GMG) is planning to boost its workforce across the Gulf by 20% this year, adding another 1,000 employees by the end of 2015, as it expands existing businesses, opens new stores and identifies new corporate opportunities. GMG currently employs a workforce of more than 5,000 people across its diverse retail portfolio, including Sun & Sand Sports, Super-Care Pharmacy, Farm Fresh, Good Health stores and Trilogi Logistics.

The new jobs will be created across a number of GMG’s regional markets including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait, the positions varying from senior management and sales to production and distribution. Owing to the growth of individual businesses, new jobs will also be created in GMG’s central support functions. The company expects most of the new jobs to be created in its Sun & Sand Sports stores, with 40 new openings planned the region this year, creating 500 positions.

“GMG has ambitious expansion plans for 2015, and having an efficient and professional workforce in place to support this growth is essential,” says Mohammad A Baker, deputy chairman and CEO, GMG. “In the next one year we expect to open 47 new stores across the Gulf, creating around 1,000 new employment opportunities in retail and numerous business management sectors. As we continue our most significant expansion in the company’s nearly 40-year history, our sustained growth is a testament to the quality of our existing workforce, new opportunities we are creating and the contribution that we make to the regional economies we operate in.”
