GMG retail stores enable customers to embrace the spirit of Ramadan

From value, variety and convenience to philanthropy GMG retail stores, including 16 Géant and 21 aswaaq supermarkets, are enabling customers to embrace the spirit of Ramadan.

Aligned with the spirit of Holy Month generosity and compassion are top priorities at Géant and aswaaq which have partnered with Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to provide customers with options to give back.

aswaaq’s ongoing partnership with Dar Al Ber’s Fils al Kheir initiative continues and enables customers to donate the small denominations (Fils) from shopping bills to charitable societies, where collected amounts are donated annually on Zayed Humanitarian Day to the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department.

Shoppers can also support the Endowment initiative, where aswaaq will donate a percentage of profits from the purchase of Alef branded products for diabetes research at Al Jalila Foundation. Enhancing its existing partnership with Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs, Géant and aswaaq stores will also be selling co-branded cotton bags showcasing artworks of Al Noor students.

Meanwhile, shoppers can avail in the excess of 50% discount on Ramadan staples such as oil, canned goods, pulses, rice and dates as well as electronics and homeware.

“During Ramadan we expect the usual surge in sales of food, grocery and home appliances as well as gift items. We remain committed to providing the best deals and offers across stores. But this year we’ve gone beyond the conventional, truly creating an environment where customers can practice the holy month of Ramadan in a myriad joyous and wholesome ways,” said Marc Laurent, President, Retail – Everyday Goods at GMG. “We are giving so much more than the excellent quality and service to the communities by appreciating and understanding their needs. With our strategic partnerships with Emirates Red Crescent and Al Noor Training Centre for Special Needs we are also encouraging our customers and members of the public to step into our stores and give back during the holy month.”
