Swedish home furnishing retailer IKEA – part of Dubai-based Al-Futtaim – marked International Day of Happiness on March 20 with a series of ‘Happiness Drops’ at Dubai Festival City and its Abu Dhabi store.
Throughout the day IKEA chose shoppers at random and surprised them with nearly AED20,000 of gifts to brighten their day. The activity was in commemoration of the globally recognised day, designed by Action for Happiness that promotes wellbeing and progress through spreading happiness and was also in line with the Dubai Government’s drive to ensure a happy society for all its citizens.
IKEA provided in-store food vouchers to make the most of its quality restaurant food offering as well as AED200 vouchers to redeem in-store.
“We are delighted to be able to spread happiness to our customers across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Not only is it International Day of Happiness but also here in the UAE it’s the ‘Year of Giving’, and our IKEA staff loved doing their part to spread joy to customers. We are a very people-conscious and customer-centric company so we embrace any opportunity where we can do more and inspire a happier everyday life at home,” says Vinod Jayan, regional general manager – IKEA UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Oman.
