The UAE-based diversified business conglomerate, Jumbo Group supports people of determination amid COVID-19, in partnership with the Rashid Centre for People of Determination. “No one should be left behind in the fight against COVID-19,” stated Arvind Agrawal, CEO, Jumbo Group. Towards this end, Jumbo Group contributed three custom-made buses to help students travel to Dubai’s Rashid Centre for People of Determination.

Understanding the special needs for UAE’s People of Determination to continue with their education & rehabilitation programmes in a time when social distancing is the norm due to COVID-19, along with custom-made buses, Jumbo Group has also provided additional facilities such as an isolation room at the premises and more equipment for increasing individual physiotherapy sessions for the children.

The biggest need of the hour during a period of social distancing is to reduce the risk of any infection and, therefore Jumbo has also contributed towards sanitisation of the Rashid Centre for People of Determination and purchases masks and face shields.

As Jumbo Group supports people of determination amid COVID-19, Agrawal, said, “While the extensive social distancing measures have been tough but necessary to arrest the spread of coronavirus, some of those hit hardest by it are the most vulnerable in our society. As a UAE-born business, we wanted to extend our support to the most special part of our community; our people of determination, to ensure that we can help them adjust to the ‘new normal’. We look forward to doing more as we believe it is our role to support with faster adaption – just as much as the entire city of Dubai is responding quickly to the changes. We are all responsible for helping our people of determination to walk along-side us through these altering times.”

In recognition of this contribution, Maryam Othman, director-general of the Rashid Center for People of Determination presented a certificate of appreciation to Agrawal. “We appreciate the efforts of the Jumbo Group and its contribution to meeting the requirements of our students at the present time, as they face the same risks as everyone else and without a doubt, this contribution confirms the depth of the relationship that the Rashid Centre for People of Determination has with its partners from the private sector, especially the Jumbo Group, who have supported us over the past years and have extended a helping hand to people of determination particularly during this time,” she added.

“The Jumbo Group initiative undoubtedly provide an important aid to the children of Rashid Centre, to help them face the repercussions of COVID-19, in addition to enhancing their self-confidence. The support from Jumbo Group is also representative of a qualitative leap in our relationship that reflects the originality and generosity of the Emirati society and everyone who lives here. There is no doubt that what Jumbo Group has provided to Rashid Centre for People of Determination will remain engraved in our memories, and it will enable students to cross the current stage and secure a better future for them,” Othman concluded.
