Kcal: Innovating the healthy food space

May 14, 2018 | By Rupkatha B

Kcal founder & co-CEO Andreas Borgmann talks about bringing in innovation in the food space.

“We have seen a lot of innovative things happening in the food space. With the entry of Deliveroo, Uber Eats and the like, physical stores delivering are in trouble. Most of us in the F&B industry have based our business on an online platform. One of our main online platforms is new company called Fuel Up, which follows the ‘build your own meal’ model in the healthy food space. It attracts only a certain kind of people in the UAE and has seen significant growth this year. So being innovative is very crucial for our business and in a competitive market like this. Another way we tackle innovation is through our linear management style. Along with Mark and me – we are co-founders & co-CEOs – we have 12 people in the team that works on new ideas, new projects, new way of handling business.”
