Kering Eyewear acquires Maui Jim

Kering Eyewear, part of global luxury house Kering Group, has acquired iconic sunglass brand Maui Jim. Kering Eyewear now holds more than 90% share in Maui Jim with the remaining expected to be acquired by year-end. Maui Jim is being consolidated in Kering accounts starting from October 1, 2022.

As Kering Eyewear acquires Maui Jim, Roberto Vedovotto, President and CEO of Kering Eyewear, stated, “Maui Jim has a unique positioning in the market with very high-end and technically innovative sunglasses that are beloved by its clientele. We are delighted that the brand is joining Kering Eyewear’s exceptional portfolio. We see strong potential globally for Maui Jim, which will benefit from our expertise and worldwide network to extend its geographical footprint and build on its core values to attract new consumers. This second key acquisition is also a major step for Kering Eyewear, which has now become unparalleled in its market segment, further validating the strategy behind its creation by Kering in 2014.”

Kering Eyewear’s portfolio of 17 brands includes Danish eyewear company Lindberg, along with Gucci, Cartier, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Chloé, Alexander McQueen, Montblanc, Brioni, Dunhill, Boucheron, Pomellato, Alaïa, MCQ, Puma and now Maui Jim.
