Indoor edutainment concept, KidZania – part of Emaar Entertainment – has opened its doors in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall.
Spanning 55,000 sqft, KidZania Abu Dhabi is a scaled down replica of a bustling city with over 50 role-plays of real-life professions offered for the little ones. By engaging in these jobs, children learn about various professions in a fun, interactive manner, helping them to develop decision-making, teamwork, creativity and social skills.
Welcoming children aged 2-16 years, KidZania Abu Dhabi has over 60 activities that offer the opportunity for them to role-play as surgeons, firefighters, chefs, police officers, builders, models, actors, artists, radio hosts and more.
“We brought pioneering leisure attractions to the UAE, which play a central role in strengthening the tourism and leisure sectors of the country. The first KidZania in The Dubai Mall is one of the most popular children’s attractions – appealing to residents and visitors – for the significant educational and entertainment value it offers. With the opening of KidZania Abu Dhabi, Emaar Entertainment is highlighting our focus on expanding our reach through innovative leisure offerings in key cities. The children’s city in Yas Mall has a central location and will delight little ones and families through its unique edutainment approach,” says Zeina Dagher, CEO, Emaar Entertainment.
“KidZania is an award-winning children’s edutainment centre that is appreciated for the educational and leisure value it provides children with. The launch of the second KidZania in Yas Mall offers our young visitors the opportunity to experience a unique real-life business and social environment that familiarises them with real-world careers. Yas Mall is today the most popular retail and leisure destination in Abu Dhabi, and the addition of KidZania complements our entertainment offerings for families and children,” adds Saoud Khoory, director of shopping malls at Aldar Properties.
KidZania Abu Dhabi has partnered with UAE’s well-known corporate entities such as ADNOC, Al Rawabi, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Fire Department, Abu Dhabi Special Forces, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme, Mum Mum, Majid TV, UAE Space, Rove Hotel and Lacnor which offer real-life professional work environments.
The indoor edutainment centre is built to scale for children, and reflects the workings of a typical city through paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy and recognisable destinations in the form of ‘establishments’.
