Abu Dhabi-based Aldar Properties’, Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain has opened its extension. The grand opening of the new extension was officially attended by Sheikh Hazza bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, under-secretary of the Court of the Abu Dhabi Ruler’s representative in Al Ain.

As part of the grand opening event, a 3D-mapping and laser show projected onto the mall’s main façade. The story of the show depicted Al Jimi Mall’s unique evolution from a fruit and vegetable market in the 1980s to a diverse and contemporary retail centre.

The extensive renovation and expansion programme has added a further 100 stores, including an 8-screen VOX Cinemas and a retail park, bringing the total store count to over 200 shops and the leasable area to approximately 818,055 sqft.

The expansion to the north side of the mall, the ‘Retail Park’ consists of 10 big box retail units with sizes ranging from 16,145 sqft to 69,965 sqft designed in a flexible way to accommodate different retailers’ area requirements, family dining and coffee shops, an event plaza and a front-door on grade parking for more than a thousand additional cars.
