The Dubai Mall celebrates Ramadan with inspiring works of calligraphy

May 9, 2019 | By RetailME Bureau

This Ramadan, The Dubai Mall is encouraging its visitors to understand the values and traditions associated with the holy month and imbibe the spirit of the season through compelling calligraphy works by talented experts. For the first time, The Dubai Mall is bringing a stimulating showcase of the ‘Art of Calligraphy’ that will take visitors through an inspiring experience.

During the holy month, The Dubai Mall will showcase calligraphy art installations highlighting poignant verses from the holy Quran. Depicted by calligraphers and artists in various languages, these installations underline the value of tolerance.

Bringing cultural diversity and awareness, ‘Ramadan Dubai’ in partnership with Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department celebrates the spirit of the holy month by showcasing Islamic customs and traditions from different cultures. The Dubai Mall believes that Ramadan is the perfect time to embrace the ‘Year of Tolerance’ and what better way than to learn about the rituals and history through unique activities and workshops including drawing, Quranic calligraphy, writing and glass painting.

From May 15-18, visitors will be captivated by the ‘light calligraphy’ showcase by celebrated artist Karim Jabbari, who was named as one the Top Public Artists in the World by the International Award for Public Art. Jabbari’s work features ancient Kufi and Maghrebi scripts that are intricately created with astounding attention to detail

Art Noor is presenting the ‘Names of Allah’ paintings during Ramadan. An art exhibition that describes the Most Benevolent and Most Merciful, will offer visitors a truly ennobling experience that will further underpin the values of the holy month.

Another exceptional attraction is Quran Tech by Dubai Culture, where visitors can select a verse from the holy Quran from Dubai Culture’s library and create a calligraphy print in Arabic and other languages. Visitors can select five verses under the theme of tolerance to create four types of calligraphy, which will be available for translation in six languages. From May 15-27, Bloomingdale’s Atrium at The Dubai Mall will house the giant cube that will inform, inspire and educate visitors on the holy Quran in a distinctively hi-tech experience.

In addition, to mark the holy month, there will be themed Ramadan decorations across The Dubai Mall, including large crescent moons, stars, lanterns as well as golden camels. Mall visitors will also be greeted with iftar packs, dates and water at all the guest services desks.
