According to a statement by Ministry of Health and Prevention and the National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, “the UAE has decided to close shopping centres, commercial centres, along with fish, meat and vegetables markets for a renewable period of two weeks,” according to the Emirates News Agency.
The decision, subject to review, will be effective within 48 hours and exempts pharmacies, supermarkets/hypermarkets and food retail outlets. However, restaurants will only operate through deliveries and not dine-in.
A week ago, entertainment centres, cinemas, fitness centres and spas were asked to close temporarily in order to contain the spread of COVID-19. Beaches and public places joined the fray last weekend.
