Part of Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment division, VOX Cinemas reopens in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain on August 17, in compliance with the recent ruling by the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi. In recent months, Majid Al Futtaim has reopened its leisure, entertainment and cinema experiences across the UAE, including Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman.

VOX Cinemas have undertaken extensive precautionary measures and put in place an all-encompassing sanitisation and physical distancing plan. During the temporary closures, Majid Al Futtaim also conducted extensive research to identify the top safety measures that would make guests feel comfortable about returning to its entertainment concepts and used the findings to proactively reimagine the guest experience.

As VOX Cinemas reopens in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, Cameron Mitchell, CEO – Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas and Majid Al Futtaim Leisure & Entertainment said, “We are delighted to be reopening VOX Cinemas in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in compliance with government guidelines. Cinemas representing 48% of the global box office are now open, including China, which has the largest number of commercial cinema screens in the world, and we are excited about rebuilding the film industry with back-to-back blockbusters in the coming months. Following the premiere of Scoob! last week and new releases including Ava and Black Water Abyss, we witnessed a 30% increase in ticket sales in UAE compared to the previous week. We will soon be announcing our upcoming slate of must-see movies and are confident that our box office will continue on an upward trajectory.”

“We have extensive measures in place at VOX Cinemas and have introduced innovative new measures to allay any concerns our guests may have. We are excited, prepared and ready to welcome back our guests and employees to Abu Dubai and look forward to reopening more of our entertainment experiences across the region as restrictions are eased,” he added.

Majid Al Futtaim’s leisure, entertainment and cinema experiences are exceeding recommended guidelines to ensure that guests can have an exceptional experience with added peace of mind. Surfaces will be cleaned and sanitised after every guest interaction to ensure the highest levels of safety and cleanliness. It is also now mandatory for employees to wear masks and gloves, and all team members will have their temperatures checked on arrival for their shifts.

VOX Cinemas will be operating at 30% capacity. Safe distancing ambassadors have been introduced and instructional signage has been installed to guide guests on best physical distancing practices. Guests are encouraged to enjoy a queue-less experience by advance booking their tickets and F&B options online or on the VOX Cinemas app. To further minimise physical contact and exposure, contactless payment options are available.

There are also extensive measures in place to ensure that the highest levels of food safety are maintained. Employees will be following strict safety protocols which include sanitising of workstations and countertops every 30 minutes and washing their hands at least every 20 minutes and before handling food.
