MENA-based shopping mall, retail and leisure developer Majid Al Futtaim has moved into the home furniture and interior style market through its new franchise partnership with French brand Maisons Du Monde.

The agreement commenced with the opening of Maisons du Monde at City Centre Mirdif. Spread across 500 sqm, the store is located on the first floor of the mall.

Founded in France in 1996, Maisons du Monde is a creator of inspirational lifestyle universes in the homeware industry, offering distinctive and affordable decoration and furniture collections that showcase multiple styles. The group develops its business through an omnichannel approach, leveraging its international network of 289 stores, its e-commerce platform operating in 11 countries and several catalogs.

Maisons Du Monde is one of the only brands in the world to have its own dedicated design hub – located in its very own French Chateau – where a 90-strong team is responsible for creating the collection. The passionate team includes designers, stylists and trend hunters that monitor global trends to create exclusive products.

“This is an important step for Majid Al Futtaim Fashion to broaden the brand portfolio and diversify the offering. We have identified a growing trend linking catwalk fashion and home design with prints and colours from the runway accessorising customers’ homes, a strength we found within the Maisons Du Monde brand and products and we are therefore very excited about launching it in the Middle East,” says Shireen El Khatib, the new CEO of Majid Al Futtaim – Fashion.

Each year, the brand releases one furniture and two seasonal decoration collections, split across carefully selected trends inspired by the way people live today. The brand’s new and exclusive trends for spring/summer 2017 include the leafy Urban Garden, punchy Mint & Lemon and timeless Elegance as well as White Island, Caliente and Escale – offering everything from mirrors and light fixtures to wall art and furniture.

“We are excited about this new partnership with Majid Al Futtaim Fashion, which allows us to develop our franchise activity in the Middle East. We strongly believe that the opening of the Maisons du Monde store with our renowned partner will delight customers from Dubai,” adds Catherine Filoche, general secretary in charge of franchise development at Maisons du Monde.
