Mall of Qatar, owned and developed by Mall of Qatar W.L.L in collaboration with turnkey contractors UrbaCon Trading & Contracting (UCC), is set to open in the third quarter of this year.
“The construction of the Mall of Qatar will be complete in August,” shares Qatar-based UrbaCon’s CEO Moataz Al-Khayyat.
The mall was scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2016, after developers announced a delay to the original opening date of the third quarter of 2015.
Spread across 4.8 million sqft, Mall of Qatar is a prime location surrounded by one of the upcoming stadiums for the FIFA 2022 World Cup. “The mall will also attract visitors from the other Gulf states as it is located next to the railway project that will link Qatar and the GCC in 2019,” adds Al-Khayyat.
Among its components, Mall of Qatar will feature 500 stores; an indoor streetscape with double height flagship stores from across the globe; Salam luxury department store; over 100 restaurants, including two signature concepts; a premium Carrefour hypermarket; a family entertainment area of 177,605 sqft featuring a new family entertainment concept KidzMondo; Cinemacity complex of 19 cinema screens including the largest IMAX laser 3D in the world; a five-star Fashion Hotel with 210 rooms operated by Curio Collection Hilton; and 7,000 parking spaces.
