McDonald’s UAE has raised AED300,000 by selling 60,000 books as part of its yearly Ramadan Books Campaign in cooperation with Emirates Red Crescent. The books sold highlighted the importance of several positive messages such as kindness, friendships, affability and tolerance, in line with the UAE’s year of tolerance.
Walid Fakih, general manager at McDonald’s UAE delivered the cheque to Hamoud Al Junaibi, deputy secretary general for marketing and funding at Emirates Red Crescent during a private ceremony.
Commenting on the partnership, Fakih said, “McDonald’s UAE has been a long-standing partner of Emirates Red Crescent and we are proud to have worked together on several charitable campaigns with the Ramadan Books being the most recent one. We believe that giving back to those less fortunate and adopting a spirit of generosity should not be limited to one time of the year. It is an ongoing responsibility that we take very seriously and are constantly looking for ways to bring about a positive change.”
“McDonald’s has shown that by working together in charitable projects and humanitarian programmes, we can achieve anything. This partnership will enhance the process of community work in the country by presenting a robust model of cooperation through future joint project and integrated humanitarian programmes,” added Al Junaibi.
