NEC launches VIP-recognition biometric solutions

Japan-based IT company NEC Corporation has launched biometrics solutions to help enhance customer engagement in the retail and hospitality industry. The VIP guest recognition solution using NEC’s NeoFace Watch product integrates with exi sting video surveillance systems to extract facial images in real-time or from web cameras and immediately match the unique facial data to a property’s VIP guest database. This helps hotels, retail stores, resorts, casinos or clubs, for example, identify a VIP guest and alert staff immediately when the guest approaches the front door, desk, kiosk, club or gaming floor.

“Being able to identify VIP guests immediately could enable the front desk staff to have room information pulled up before the guest steps up to the registration desk and be able to greet the guest by name. Overall, this capability helps enhance a VIP guest’s experience through personalization of services and increases customer satisfaction with the property,” says Raffie Beroukhim, vice president, Biometrics Solutions, NEC Corporation of America.

“The use of biometrics in hospitality is emerging and could be beneficially applied to other areas of the business, including security, guest check-in line control, marketing traffic analysis, and more. We’re seeing its application within the hospitality market expand to help organizations not with only internal operations, but also to improve the guest experience,” adds Kevin Ruhman, hospitality vertical practice leader, NEC Corporation of America.
