Nefsy launches initiative to feed people in need
Home-grown dine-in app, Nefsy, launched in September 2019, has started a nationwide initiative to feed people in need amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Nefsy is supporting the Fund of the UAE, Homeland of Humanity, under the Emirates Red Crescent.
The Nefsy app is supporting those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic via a collaboration with the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) – license number 2984 – and the Dubai Government.
For a donation of AED12 through the Nefsy app, two people in need affected by the global pandemic both nationally and internationally will receive a free meal. The initiative also gives the option to buy a 30-day package for the same price. All users need to do, is download the Nefsy app and sign up for free to donate.
The campaign is also asking residents to be a part of a viral charity challenge, by recording and uploading a video to their own social channels announcing they are taking part in the campaign to donate meals – and then challenging three or more friends to match the donation and do the same.

“Nefsy’s mission is to help everyone who chooses to dine-in, feed another person at no extra cost so we can end hunger worldwide. The Coronavirus pandemic has dealt a devastating blow to the global economy. With lengthy enforced shutdowns everywhere, many people have lost their jobs and are facing extreme difficulties,” says founder, Khaled Diab. “That’s why the Nefsy platform has introduced a new way of helping back and we are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved to feed one person here in the UAE nationally and one internationally. It’s time to extend compassion to friends, neighbours and communities to help them through this crisis.”
Nefsy was designed to help beat world hunger, one click at a time – and the app allows residents in the UAE to browse through top UAE restaurants and cafés, select a meal of their choice and then enjoy their dining experience complete with the knowledge that with every purchase, a meal is donated.
