New Shanghai opens at The Dubai Mall

New Shanghai, a popular casual dining destination from Australia, has arrived in Dubai with the opening of its first restaurant on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall.

Offering a taste of traditional and contemporary Chinese cuisine in an ambient setting inspired by the bustling, colourful streets of Shanghai, the new restaurant provides a fun and authentic culinary experience for Dubai residents and visitors to enjoy.

Introduced to the Middle East by retail conglomerate AZADEA Group, New Shanghai offers fresh and flavoursome Shanghainese food in a modern setting. With over 80 mouth-watering dishes to choose from, including speciality dumplings, wontons, signature Xiao Long Bao and a range of beef, chicken and seafood dishes, there is something for everyone.

One of the restaurant’s key highlights is a unique dumplings theatre which offers an opportunity to observe the art of making dim sums and dumplings. Each dish is freshly prepared from the moment the order is received in the kitchen ensuring highest quality and best flavour. For those who are looking for a truly unique taste inspired by the Middle East, the restaurant also offers a Camel Xiao Long Bao, possibly the first in the world.

At the heart of New Shanghai are ancient family recipes that have been passed down from generation-to-generation including its secret dumpling sauce that adds a deliciously unique and moreish flavour. The popular restaurant which opened as an authentic Chinese dining concept by the Chen family in Australia in the 1990s, continues to bring a true taste of Chinese culture to the table in every dish. The beautiful décor, inspired by 1930’s Shanghai, features hand-painted murals and cobblestone flooring which add on to the vibrant yet relaxing restaurant atmosphere.

New Shanghai operates in key cities across Australia (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) and in Shanghai. Its expansion into the Middle East with AZADEA Group begins in Dubai, with roll out into other markets across the Middle East over the next five years.

“We are delighted to open our first New Shanghai restaurant in Dubai, and bring our unique take on authentic Shanghainese cuisine to another corner of the world. We are looking forward to welcoming our Middle Eastern customers and hope they will appreciate our unique flavours and dishes,” says John Chen, director of New Shanghai.

“Our mission at AZADEA Group is to provide exceptional lifestyle experiences for our customers, and New Shanghai delivers both a differentiated dining experience and brings diverse, authentic new flavours to the table. We’re confident of the brand’s appeal across nationalities and generations, and look forward to introducing the brand across our markets,” adds Mert Askin, president of food & beverage at AZADEA Group.
