noon Food
Home-grown e-commerce marketplace, noon.com ventures into food delivery. Following the launch of noon Daily – the next-day fresh grocery delivery service – noon.com is now getting ready to launch a food delivery platform – noon Food.
While announcing the plans to launch noon Food, founder Mohamed Alabbar said that the idea is to work together with regional food and beverage (F&B) operators on “fair” terms. The move comes as most food delivery platforms and aggregators are charging unsustainably high commissions – up to 30-35% – adding to the agonies of F&B operators.
As noon.com ventures into food delivery, the operating details of noon Food is still unclear, but a LinkedIn post suggests that the soon-to-launch platform will do business “honourably.” F&B operators using noon Food’s white-label platform may not be charged commission exceeding 5%.
Recently, a lot of home-grown food delivery platforms – including ChatFood and GoFood, among others – have emerged to support the local F&B operators by not charging a hideously high commission.
