British online supermarket Ocado has temporarily suspended access to its website as it is struggling to cope with demand from consumers shopping for grocery in the UK. The site is expected to be closed until Saturday (March 21).
“We are fully booked and at full capacity, and will be delivering to over 170,000 households in the next four days (starting March 18),” said Melanie Smith, CEO, Ocado Retail through a statement.
Ocado has taken this step to ensure products availability, going forward, for all its consumers, “especially those more vulnerable and in isolation.”
Meanwhile, Ocado posted a rise in retail revenues, which increased 10.3% to £441.2 million during the 13 weeks to March 1, 2020.
