Pastryology joins hands with Emirati artist

Home-grown brand specialising in desserts, Pastryology and local artist Maryam Taher have joined forces to create limited edition dessert boxes and coffee cups, served on a first come basis.

The individual dessert boxes and coffee cups, designed with ‘line art’ designs by self-taught, visual arts student, Taher, are more than just an extension of Dubai’s Art Week celebrations in March 2019. The artistic collaboration is deep-rooted in the empowerment of local talent and budding entrepreneurship, contributing to symbolising and idolising Emirati women as powerhouses. Created using felt-tip pens, each box and each cup is unique and highlights female portraits in literal and in abstract.

Commenting on the partnership, Pastryology founder Aisha Sharaf, says, “Our objective behind this collaboration is not only to build continued awareness of art week in Dubai, but to show the community that art can be found and created on any platform, and better if it stands for an underlying purpose. These artistic designs by Maryam form an unspoken bond of support, encouraging a women-for-women ideal, and showcasing the powerful potential of Emirati women coming together to construct something beautiful from the mundane.”

The limited-edition boxes and coffee cups will be available at Pastryology on April 12-13 on a first come, first serve basis.
