Ras Al Khaimah International Airport officially inaugurated its new-look duty free shopping area, following extensive renovations. Distinguished senior officials from the Ras Al Khaimah government, RAK International Airport management and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiled the remodelled stores.
The state-of-the-art duty-free retail space in Departures and Arrivals terminals were upgraded in response to an increasing number of passengers in recent years. RAK Duty Free further enhanced the shopping experience by housing a wide selection of prestigious brands including Jimmy Choo, Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, Carolina Herrera, Diesel, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci, Channel, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Davidoff, Burberry and Bulgari, among others, as well as premium confectionary, beverages and cosmetics brands.
The enhanced airport experience for visitors follows the announcement that global tourism business TUI Group and ITAKA will extend the partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority with six flights operating weekly from four airports in Poland, as a result of the increasing popularity of the Emirate with Polish visitors. The forthcoming winter season will also see RAK International Airport welcoming two weekly flights from Russia and a weekly flight from Luxembourg.
With a steadfast commitment to attracting visitors from key European markets, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport along with RAKTDA also secured the first direct flight from Prague to Ras Al Khaimah last summer, in cooperation with Czech tour operator Fischer.
“Enhancing the airport to meet best international standards comes as a natural step due to the significant role we play in creating positive first impressions and experiences amongst tourists. We are focused on supporting the vision of our leaders and are proud to contribute to the ongoing growth of the tourism sector in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah,” states Sanjay Khanna, CEO, Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
