The registration process for running retail promotions during the 20th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) began on November 9. The organisers, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), are expecting thousands of retail outlets to participate in the 32-day shopping event from January 1 to February 1, 2015.
The retail registration for DSF 2015 will continue until 29 January 2015. The registration centres are located at the Department of Economic Development’s offices at Business Village, Block A, and its branch at The Dubai Mall, and will be open daily, Sunday to Thursday from 7.30am to 1.30pm.
As a global attraction that attracts, on an average, 4.4 million visitors every year with a total spending of AED 15 billion, DSF is an important retail season that makes a major contribution towards the emirate’s economy. In fact, DSF accounts for between 25-30% of annual sales of retailers in Dubai, the organisers claim.
Retailers can select from a variety of promotions such as sales, part sales, DSF discounts and DSF offers, and categories including single outlet with single brand, single outlet with multiple brands, group of companies, kiosks and stands, advertising by paper/leaflet/flyer, online advertising per brand, raffles, exhibitions, media house, and restaurant/fast food.
To celebrate the 20th edition of DSF, the organisers have introduced special categories including an opening weekend special from January 1-3, DSF 20th edition special and DSF raffles and scratch & win promotions.
Those registering as retail sponsors can run their promotions from December 1, 2014 to February 1, 2015 while those registering as retail participants will be entitled to run promotions from January 1 to February 1 2015.
“Every year, during DSF, Dubai’s business community runs exciting promotions that not only energise the retail sector but also make shopping in Dubai during this world famous festival a rewarding experience. The variety of promotions will offer retailers the opportunity to boost sales during DSF and provide an incentive for residents and visitors to visit Dubai during this peak season for shopping that will further enhance Dubai’s position as a year-round family tourism destination,” says Saeed Mohammad Mesam Al Falasi, director, strategic alliance division, (DFRE).
