Revealed: YouGov Retail Rankings 2021

Market research and data analytics firm, YouGov has revealed the top-ranked retail consumer brands in the UAE for 2021.

Hypermarket brand Carrefour leads the online and offline retailers list this year with a score of 42.2. Carrefour, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE recently launched the region’s first checkout-free store, Carrefour City+, at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates. The second place in the category was taken by Swedish furniture giant Ikea with a score of 33.1. This was followed by UAE’s retail major Lulu Hypermarket with a score of 30.8. Other brands named among the top 10 in the online and offline retailers list include e-commerce platforms Amazon and Noon with a score of 26.8 and 23.9 respectively, followed by Sharaf DG (22.3), H&M (19.4), ADNOC (18.6), Amazon prime (18.0) and Union Coop (14.8).

In the sportswear and apparel list, Adidas is ranked as the top performer with a score of 50.8. This was followed by Nike, Skechers and Reebok with a score of 46.6, 29.4 and 27.3 respectively. Swedish fashion brand H&M ranked fifth in this category and German sport-lifestyle brand Puma ranked sixth with a score of 24.9 and 24.1 respectively. Under Armour (18.4), American Eagle (17.7), New Balance (11.8) and Fila (10.9) are other reputed global brands appearing in UAE’s top ten list for Sports & Apparel category.

The rankings are based on the Index score from YouGov BrandIndex, which is a measure of overall brand health calculated by taking the average of Impression, Quality, Value, Satisfaction, Recommend and Reputation over a period of 12 months. The rankings chart shows the brands with the highest average index score between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021. The scores are representative of the general population of adults 18+ (some are online representative). All brands have been tracked for at least 6 months to be included in the rankings and have been tracked for at least 18 months to appear in the Improvers tables.
