Sri Lankan food festival in Al Maya supermarkets

UAE-based Al Maya Supermarkets is hosting a two-week food festival at select outlets. The event organised in collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and Northern Emirates will run until January 25.

Al Maya group director Kamal Vachani, announced the “Sri Lanka Food Festival” with Nalinda Wijerathna, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

“We are very excited to announce the 14-day ‘Sri Lanka Food Festival’ at Al Maya Supermarkets in Dubai. Sri Lanka boasts an amazing variety of food and cooking styles, and we hope this festival will be a huge success by attracting a large number of Sri Lankans as well as other nationalities,” said Vachani.

Sri Lankan cuisine offers a wide variety of flavours, colors and cooking methods that produce an interesting mixture of delicious combinations,” he added.

Wijerathna, commenting on the event, expressed his confidence that this important event would further enhance the strong business relations that Sri Lankan business Community and the Sri Lankan Community in the UAE continuously maintain with the Al Maya Group. “This initiative will open up more opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters to serve the UAE market through Al Maya Supermarkets. At the same time, Sri Lanka and other UAE communities will also be given the opportunity to consume a broad range of unique Sri Lankan products. “Congratulations to Mr Vachani and his team for successfully hosting this wonderful event,” he added.

Al Maya Group operates more than 50 supermarkets in the GCC countries.
